Google’s John Mueller says you can safely ignore spam-like referral traffic and don’t worry about SEO.John said twitter“Ignore” when asked.

Tom Goering told John, “Since the Link Spam update, I’ve been getting a ton of referral traffic from websites with the .xyz extension. I haven’t visited it, but I think it’s some kind of spam. It’s been around for years. I’m sure you’ve been reading your post over and over, and Google handles this well.It doesn’t hurt me, right?”

John simply said, “Ignore it.”

Either way, there’s not much you can do about it, and spammers will remain spammers.

I checked my analysis and this site is getting traffic from xyz domain for these kind of spam. I don’t wake up at night worrying about it.
