In Overwatch 2 Beta, the iron ball is disabled due to a bug that allows you to kick all other players from the game.
Overwatch games can be frustrating, from teams not cooperating to other teams being full of top players. You may need a quick reset of the server and a reshuffle of the player. Simply put, the wrecking ball had that power.
This exploit occurred in Overwatch 2 Beta, giving Tank Hero the ability to drive all other players out of the game. And it was surprisingly easy to trigger. All you had to do was look directly at the floor and use the grapple hook on the wrecking ball. This will send all your teammates and enemies from the server and make everything yours.
You can see this actually working as shown by the streamer Matthew’Super’Delici .. After it worked, he vowed not to do it again – probably not in trouble.
Thankfully, this exploit didn’t last that long. Blizzard intervened and removed Wrecking Ball from Overwatch 2 for the time being. The official Overwatch Twitter account tweeted:
[OW2 Beta]The power of the wrecking ball is a little too strong on the beta server. 🐹 Immediately disable him while working to address a bug that could crash another player.May 3, 2022
When did the Wrecking Ball return to Overwatch 2 Beta?
It’s not clear when or if the wrecking ball will come back before the beta of Overwatch 2 ends on May 17th. Interestingly, it’s unclear if he will be able to choose an Overwatch League player when the competition begins on May 5.
So far, the damage seems to be minimal, as the beta version doesn’t have a competitive mode, and players who use it only do so in the same way as quick play. Still, being thrown out of the game can be a hassle, especially if you’ve been waiting in long lines for a while trying to play the role of tank or damage.
Of course, such bugs are expected due to the beta status of Overwatch 2. It’s clear that the title isn’t perfect and more content is expected from new maps, modes, heroes, and extensive PvE modes, but it also extends to the level of sophistication of the game.
This is unlikely to be the only major bug found in this beta, and we expect to see more bugs with future beta releases. Hopefully finding these exploits right now will be the launch of Overwatch 2 whenever it’s a smooth experience.
