An update for the new Xbox Series X is underway to address one of the console’s most annoying issues: the game doesn’t launch properly when an update is needed.
Prompters now appear on Xbox Alpha and AlphaSkip Ahead Insiders as soon as Xbox Series X games need to be updated. This means that you won’t have the over-general problem of having to rudely return to your dashboard or launch it. Run the game multiple times before you are prompted to refresh.
This is a significant improvement over the current situation, as it can take up to 15 seconds for the Xbox to show the user that the update is ready and needs to be installed. The problem seems to be that there was a delay because the notification wasn’t displayed until the console determined the size of the update. However, users will be notified that the game needs to be updated immediately, and the file size will be updated soon.
Remember that Xbox Alpha and Alpha Skip Ahead Insiders need a 15 second head scratch when wondering why the game ended at startup? not anymore. This will immediately bring up the “Update Needed” dialog and after a few seconds the size calculation will be entered. pic.twitter.com/EaLccfFf5dMay 3, 2022
This isn’t the first Xbox Series X update that improves the way the console handles game updates. The console now scans your game library faster for updates when you’re in My Games and Apps. That is, the title should appear faster.

If you’re interested in becoming an Xbox Insider, it’s easy to get involved. Simply download the Xbox Insider Hub app available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, and PC. Even better, you don’t have to opt in every time you run a preview. You can select the preview you are interested in.
Not all insiders are available because some previews have five “rings” (alpha skip ahead, alpha, beta, delta, omega) that classify insiders. After all, since we’re testing beta features, we may run into bugs and issues as part of being an insider. You can find out more at Official FAQ..
In general, one of the best things about modern consoles and gaming hardware is that manufacturers continue to improve their products after launch with system updates. The PS5 has recently received VRR support, and the Nintendo Switch has received an update that fans have been waiting for for five years.
Both the Xbox Series X | S continue to make remarkable improvements, including support for Dolby Vision games and pleasing audio upgrades.
