Several times a year, we significantly improve the overall ranking process. This is called a core update. Core updates make search results more relevant overall
Make them more useful and useful
For everyone. Today, we are releasing a core update for May 2022. It takes about 1-2 weeks to fully deploy.

Core updates are changes we make to improve overall search and respond to changes in the nature of the web. Core updates are not specific to a particular site, but these updates can cause significant changes in site performance. This was explained in previous guidance on what site owners need to know about core updates.

Check for a wide range of core updates, as they usually produce widely noticeable effects. Some sites may experience drops or gains in the meantime. We know that people who have sites that are experiencing drops are looking for a fix, and we want to make sure they don’t try to fix what’s wrong. In addition, there may be nothing to fix.

There are no issues with pages that may experience poor performance with core updates. They do not violate our webmaster guidelines and have not taken any manual or algorithmic action, as they may occur on pages that violate these guidelines. In fact, there is nothing in the core update targeted to a particular page or site. Instead, the change is to improve the way the system evaluates the entire content. These changes may improve the performance of some previously underpaid pages.

Update this blog post again to verify that the May 2022 core update rollout is complete. If you have any feedback on the May 2022 core update, you can post it here.
