We’ve been hearing rumors of a Google Pixel Fold for years now, and it looks like the phone is finally here.
At the moment, only a few companies actually make foldable phones, and Samsung dominates the market with phones like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. However, serious competition may soon arise.
According to leaks, this could be called the Pixel Fold or Pixel Notepad, but the name hasn’t been decided, so we’re mostly calling it the Google Pixel Fold for now.
We are also hearing details about possible designs, screens, cameras and other specs. They’re all listed below. Also, information about a possible release date, with most rumors suggesting it could be early to mid-2023, as well as leaks about pricing.
As we learn more about the Google Pixel Fold, we’ll add it to this article, so check back regularly for updates.

Google Pixel Fold release date and price
Early leaks suggested the Pixel Fold would arrive in late 2022. We’ve heard this many times, but since there were no signs of a phone at the time of the Pixel 7 announcement, it now seems unlikely.
In fact, a recent leak (from another source) suggests that the Pixel Fold won’t launch until 2023, although it was apparently planned for a late 2022 launch. means between January 2023 and his March.
That said, the latest release date rumor points to May 2023, so we may still have to wait a while.
We also heard earlier that the Pixel Fold was canceled, so it’s possible we won’t get it at all. But the claim comes from Ross Young, who recently returned with one of the leaks above and says it’s now scheduled for Q1 2023.
In fact, the term “isPixel2022Foldable” has been spotted in Google code, suggesting that the phone will land soon.
Also, take all these leaks with a little salt, especially since previous release date rumors were wrong. It claims that smartphones using these screens will be launched in 2021.
The same site recently said the same thing again, and another leak about a phone with a Samsung Display screen said the Pixel Fold would launch in Q4 2021.
Of course, that didn’t happen, but it’s possible the Pixel Fold could have slipped all the way into 2023, as it is now.
As for the price, it has been leaked around $1,400 (approximately £1,040 / A$1,960). This makes it much cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, but still expensive.
In fact, it may cost the same as the Galaxy Z Fold 4, but a recent leak puts it at $1,799 (around £1,520 / AUD $2,660).
design and display
The main information about the Google Pixel Fold comes from a large leak, including unofficial renderings, some of which are listed below. Although unofficial, they appear to be based on images and information provided by reliable sources.
As you can see, the design here looks a lot like the Pixel 7 line when folded and closed, but the overall form factor resembles the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold line.
The Pixel Fold appears to be covered in metal and glass and is said to come in only white and black shades. It’s also obviously very heavy and you can see the large bezels above and below the main screen.
We even got hands-on with a dummy unit for the Pixel Fold, like the one used by accessory makers.
You can see this image below, with a larger bezel (which may be there to keep the price down), 5.7mm thick at its thinnest point, 8.7mm thick including the camera block, and a narrower form. clarified the factors, etc. The creases are likely to be less noticeable than on Samsung phones.
There are also reports claiming that Google has placed an order with Samsung Display for a foldable OLED panel measuring around 7.6 inches.
A more recent report – from @OnLeaks in collaboration with how to solve (opens in new tab) – Refers to a 7.69-inch folding screen and a 5.79-inch cover display.
They also claimed the unfolded dimensions to be 158.7 x 139.7 x 5.7 mm (rising to 8.3 mm including the rear camera bump) and included a rendering very similar to the one above. One of them is shown below.
Another leak claims that the display will have a resolution of 2208 x 1840 pixels and will also offer up to 1,200 nits of brightness and refresh rates of up to 120 Hz. The same source indicates that the overall dimensions are 123 x 148mm.
That said, an animation found on Android 12L Beta 2 shows a foldable phone with a similar design to the Oppo Find N. Instead of being tall and narrow like the Z Fold 4, it’s short and wide.
You can see this animation above. This could be just a generic animation, but it could also be the Pixel Fold showing up.
We’ve heard elsewhere that the Pixel Fold’s cover display (the outer, non-foldable screen) could be 5.8 inches.
In addition to these leaks, we’ve also seen a Google patent showing a screen that opens to tablet size, but like the rollable phone concept we’ve seen so far, it could be stretched a bit further. It looks ambitious for Google’s first foldable phone, so we’re not convinced it will end up with this design.
patent mobile (opens in new tab) We also uncovered two additional Google Pixel foldable phone patents. One of them shows a fairly conventional clamshell design, but the other one has two hinges so that when unfolded he forms a Z shape and can grow from smartphone size to full his tablet size. will be
So while Google seems to be experimenting with different foldable designs, the company may have gone with a design like the aforementioned Galaxy Z Fold.
Specs and features
Benchmarks suggest the Pixel Fold will be powered by the same Tensor G2 chipset as the Pixel 7 Pro, with 12GB of RAM.
That said, the old original Tensor chipset has also been spotted in the Pixel Fold’s benchmarks, with 12GB of RAM and Android 12 also mentioned, and Tensor chipset rumors heard elsewhere. However, these are old leaks, so it’s likely that Google has upgraded to the G2.
This chipset appears to be designed to take full advantage of the Pixel 7 series’ cameras, so it’s possible that the same cameras will be used as well, but we’re not quite sure about that. With a camera on board, you can expect a dual or triple lens setup with main, ultra-wide and possibly telephoto (5x optical zoom) snappers.
However, another leak points to another snapper that combines the Pixel 5’s 12.2MP main camera with the Pixel 6’s 12MP ultra-wide camera and two 8MP selfie cameras (one on each screen). This is what we hear now and again.
Not all leaks and rumors match up at the moment when it comes to the camera on the back of the Google Pixel Fold, as a source says it’s considering a 64MP + 12.2MP + 10MP rear camera. As for the camera, both are apparently 9.5MP, but the leaked render (above) shows a triple-lens rear camera.
There’s also the possibility of an under-display camera, as Google’s patent for this technology has been discovered. That said, the leaked images don’t suggest this.
We don’t know anything about the specs of the Google Pixel foldable phone, but we can speculate a bit. For one, it will probably run Android 13, but it will definitely run whatever the latest Android version is at launch.
In terms of the standard Pixel range, it probably has a decent camera as well, though it probably has fewer lenses than rival phones.
Finally, a Google Camera software tweak suggests that the Pixel Fold is indeed in development, with Google preparing its own software.
