You can now see some sleep stats on the Google Nest display, but if you own Fitbit, you’ll soon see your workout and activity data as well.
Newly published support document discovered by 9to5Google Learn how you can quickly configure your Nest Hub to display metrics such as your daily steps and calories burned. You can collect this data from the Fitbit or Google Fit apps.
Nest Hub already acts as a sleep tracker, monitoring movements and sounds (including snoring) overnight to determine the degree of rest. It also analyzes bedroom light and temperature and provides suggestions on how to improve sleep hygiene.
It’s not clear when the Fitbit firmware update will be released, but once it’s released, activity data will be on your device.[ウェルネス]It will be displayed in the same place as the sleep stats on the tab.
More Fitbit integration
Not surprisingly, Fitbit data has been added to Google’s smart speakers. Google purchased Fitbit last January and promised to work closely on various projects while the two brands remain separate.
Perhaps the most exciting of these is the new premium Fitbit smartwatch running the Wear OS operating system mentioned at last year’s Google IO event. There are no signs of a clock so far, but Fitbit usually obscures the device until it’s ready for sale, so you don’t know when it will appear.
It seems very unlikely that the future Google Pixel Watch will become the Fitbit brand, but it’s almost certain that the company’s fitness tracking tools are pre-installed. Several possible watch face designs were leaked last year, including one with the familiar Fitbit logo.
It will be interesting to see other ways Google can integrate Fitbittech into other devices. For example, it’s not too hard to imagine that health technology is integrated into Google’s Pixel Buds in a manner similar to Amazfit Powerbuds Pro with heart rate monitoring and training tracking. We will listen to more news in the coming months.
