2022 Buick Enclave Review: More than you would expect

2022 upgrade

To enhance its appeal, the Enclave was modestly arranged in 2022. Visually, this classy family carrier gets a new fascia, hood and grill with a sports touring model that wields a unique mesh-filled insert. The lamp assembly has been split, daytime lights and turn signals remain high, and LED headlights are pressed low at the front end. A new wheel design slate was offered, the back of the vehicle was tweaked, reworked chrome strips and new taillights were added. Overall, the updated Enclave looks pretty much the same as last year, but that’s not a bad thing. The curved, almost windswept styling of this SUV is unique and attractive. And the narrow people still write it down strictly as an old man’s vehicle, but don’t listen to them.

Of course, you can’t refresh your vehicle without some upgrades in the car. There’s a new, better-feeling steering wheel and a redesigned center console that’s home to the smooth-looking, intuitive push-button shifters. This is a major upgrade from the previous gear selector that looked like a Nokia handset over 20 years ago. A new wireless charging pad is also standard equipment, which should make it more suitable for today’s giant smartphones. In addition, an electric rear sunshade is now available on the Power Moon roof.

In 2022, Enclave’s pinnacle of Avenir trim will be more clearly distinguished from fewer models. It features unique exterior accents, rocker moldings in body color, and special emblems. Inside, you’ll appreciate the unique trim, more premium materials, and the heated, ventilated, and massaged front seats.

Basic but not basic

The enclave shown here is an entry-level essence model, but you never know it’s a basic product. Dressed up in an affordable $ 1,695 sports touring package, this SUV looks great with dark grill inserts and a 20-inch machined face wheel. For drivers who want a little more, you can also choose between premium and the above-mentioned Avenir trim.

But even in the form of a base, the interior of the Enclave is great. Dashboards, door panels and center consoles are full of supple plastic. A leather seat is also standard equipment. The flashy form, elegant bright work, and contrast-colored stitching give the cabin a surprisingly luxurious feel. If you dig a little deeper, nothing is terribly cheap. The various hard plastics used look great and everything is firmly screwed in.

This three-row SUV is an excellent family carrier. The front seats are reasonably soft, the second row buckets are great, and it’s an elevated theater style for better front visibility. Passengers sitting there will be 120 volt home if they choose the $ 1,555 Soundand Sites package, which includes their own climate control, two USB ports, and a 10-speaker Bose audio system and an 8-inch Bose audio system. Equipped with a power outlet Touch screen with embedded navigation. The third row of enclaves is a bit tight for adults, but not worse than what you get with a Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot, or Toyota Highlander.

Even in the shape of the base, the cabin of Enclave is very nice.

With the exception of people, Enclave is also a skilled cargo carrier. There is 23.6 cubic feet behind the third row seats and 57.7 cubic feet behind the second row seats. When you fold everything, you can play in a 97.4 cubic space. This has a lot more space in each position than the Explorer, Highlander, and Pilot can offer, but more than that, additional Below the rear carrier is a 3.1 cubic foot junk tooting room.

The vehicle’s 8-inch infotainment display is a bit small in 2022, but it works well, and the infotainment system is simple, very clean, and immediately intuitive. Android Auto When Apple CarPlay Is standard and both smartphone mirroring systems can connect to the enclave wirelessly. To ensure that everyone’s mobile device can be charged, this Buick has six USB ports, two in each row of seats.

The 2022 Enclave comes with a number of standard equipment, including nine advanced support features for the Buick Driver Confidence Plus Suite. This includes items such as lane keeping assistance, automatic high beam, rear crossing traffic warning, and rear parking assistance. Technologies such as crisp, clear rear-view mirrors, color heads-up displays, and front parking sensors are all available. The mid-range premium model and the top shelf Avenir model also come standard with a heads-up display and a high-resolution 360-degree camera system. In the typical GM practice, if adaptive cruise control is required, it is bundled in an optional package with the two trims below.

Smooth and supple

Not surprisingly, the styling of the enclave predicts how the enclave will drive. This SUV is smooth and supple and will glide along the road in most situations. Even those pretty 20-inch wheels are soft to ride, but never sloppy. The steering is also completely comfortable, light to the touch and fast enough to feel a bit lively. However, one of the drawbacks is the A-pillar of this vehicle. These are chic with two Cs and partially obscure the field of vision.

To keep things simple, Enclave offers only one powertrain. All trims are motivated by a smooth, awkward 3.6-liter V6 engine that delivers 310 horsepower and 266 lb-foot torque. It doesn’t sound too much, but this engine can carry more than 2 tons of Buick without any problems. Its curved 6 is closely tied to a nearly perfectly functional 9-speed automatic transmission that unnoticed slurs between gears and shifts down quickly. When properly equipped, this SUV can tow up to 5,000 pounds.

In addition to excellent performance, this drivetrain is also quite efficient. All three enclave trim levels are available in either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. If you choose the latter, you will get a total of 17 mpg city, 25 mpg highway and 20 mpg. If you use the front drive route, expect an additional 1mpg for each drive cycle.

An unexpected addition in 2022 is the inclusion of a dedicated engine stop start button. According to a Buick representative, customers wanted this feature because they wanted to be able to turn it off and wereted fuel without moving.

This is a very nice SUV.

verdict

The base, front drive and essence trim enclave start at around $ 44,000, including a destination fee of $ 1,195. This moderately optional all-wheel drive example checks out a perfectly reasonable $ 52,040. Excluding the extra charges mentioned above, the price is $ 1,450 for the Technology Package, $ 1,395 for the Buick Experience Package (basically a dual-pane moon roof), $ 650 for the Trailer Options Group, and $ 495 for the handsome Quick Silver Metallic Paint. Will be filled with. However, a little harder to swallow is the cost of the loaded Avenir version. Checking all option boxes can push prices north of the 65 Grand, which is the area of suitable luxury cars.

The 2022 Buick Enclave is fun for all ages. Kids will love the many USB ports. Grandparents appreciate the smooth and quiet ride, and moms and dads don’t immediately frown on price tags and fuel economy quotes. This is a very premium and comfortable 3-row SUV, even in entry-level form, which is a real surprise. I confess, I didn’t expect much from Enclave, but it impresses me in many ways and may have the same effect on you.
