The entry-level E-Tron GT is equipped with an electric motor on each axle, producing a total of 469 horsepower and 464 lb-foot of torque on all four wheels. Power is boosted to 522hp and 472lb-ft when overboost is enabled or when launch control is used. The GT Porsche Twin, the Taycan 4S, is 40 less horses in normal driving, but has the same overboost value. Audi says the E-Tron GT reaches 60mph at 3.9, which is fast enough both in everyday situations and when crossing the freeway. Like Porsche, Audi offers a unique EV driving experience and uses a two-speed transmission that makes a cool sound when shifting, but the E-Tron’s artificial “engine” sound was more interesting. think.
Basically, all the latest EVs have good acceleration stats, but fortunately the E-Tron GT is great for driving overall. Air suspension is standard equipment to provide a supple ride while minimizing body roll. My test car is equipped with a $ 6,000 performance package that adds rear wheel steering and torque vectoring in addition to gloss black exterior trim, rud matrix LED headlights and other cosmetic bits. Its steering isn’t as sharp as a razor like a Taycan, but the E-Tron GT’s electronic power steering is quick and direct, especially in dynamic mode cars. Even with these Pirelli Cinturato P7 all-season tires, the E-Tron GT is a lot of fun on winding roads. It’s the type of car I don’t want to stop driving.
One area where the E-Tron GT is objectively superior to the Taycan is its range. The E-Tron GT has a 93.4kWh battery pack and a 238 mile range, while the standard Taycan 4S uses a 79.2kWh pack and has a 199 mile range. Porsche is available in the same larger pack as Audi for $ 5,570, but the model is still 11 miles below the E-Tron GT’s range. Both cars have minimal regenerative braking, which is a shame. The brakes on the E-Tron GT are pretty strong, but I wish I had a true one-pedal drive mode. You can now enjoy it even on a sporty drive.
It took me a while to warm up to the design of the E-Tron GT, but the tactical green paint on this test car really helps. Metallic shades range from olive green to baby pook yellow, depending on the light, to match the sharp lines of the GT. I personally specify a $ 350 body color grille insert. This helps eliminate the cluttered front bumper styling blackness. I also buy a larger 21-inch wheel for $ 2,000 because it fills the wheel arch better. But even in the boring colors with small wheels, the E-Tron GT has a presence on many roads, which is important.
The interior of the E-Tron GT hasn’t been very successful in my eyes, at least in terms of appearance. The angled design has some cool elements, but it looks messy overall, as the dashboard vents line up with the door handles. (The dash edge design makes it easier to hit your knees.) It doesn’t help that this GT had a black interior with matte carbon fiber trim. Even the optional red, brown, or even light gray leather will make a big difference. The GT has a flank, but it’s quite small, the sedan’s trunk opening is shallow, and it’s a hassle to put a suitcase in.
But like all modern Audi, the fit and finish are great and all trim pieces feel high-end. The GT comes in a $ 4,000 full leather interior package with several micro suede panels, honeycomb stitched perforated nappa leather seats, an 18-way front sports seat with front seat ventilation and massage, and a perforated flat. I have. -Bottom leather steering wheel instead of standard Alcantara wheels.
I’m glad to throw away the dual screen infotainment setup found in GT The E-Tron SUV has a single 10.1-inch screen with physical temperature control on the dashboard below. Some of these toggle switches are not associated with the small display screen of the HVAC system, which is a bit tricky to understand. The E-Tron GT’s MMI infotainment is otherwise smooth and easy to use, with excellent tactile feedback and crisp graphics. Audi’s 12.3-inch virtual cockpit display is one of the best displays on the market, but I hope it’s a bit more configurable.
The E-Tron GT starts at $ 103,895, includes a destination fee of $ 1,495, and reduces the Taycan 4S by $ 4,055. This was before adding a larger battery pack to Porsche. The E-Tron GT adds adaptive cruise control, ambient lights, heated rear seats, heads-up display, and an excellent Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system at a Prestige Trim level priced at $ 7,200. All of this lean green machine costs $ 121,690, which is about $ 20,000 cheaper than the more powerful RS E-Tron GT and feels worth the price.
With a combination of style, performance and quality, I think the E-Tron GT is Audi’s most attractive product. This is also a future preview of the brand, with Audi and Porsche preparing to debut their first mass-produced car on the co-developed PPE platform later this year. The E-Tron GT is so good that I can’t wait to drive the next one.
